Chapter 19 brings the sixth perspective of Christ's victory to a close. Remember, we call this interpretation progressive parallelism because they are all parallel in time (in other words, happening at the same time), and because they become progressively more detailed. What an amazing picture is painted by John's words here: a great multitude in heaven singing, the 24 elders falling down in worship, and angelic announcements of Christ's wedding to His bride, the Church.
We've been talking quite a bit, especially at night church, about why it is we must do good works. Verse 8 provides a tremendous answer to that question:
Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her [the Church] to wear.” (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.)
The good deeds you do are helping to array this beautiful bride!
Chapter 19 ends with an account of Christ's decisive victory over the beast and false prophet, reminding you once again that God's justice will prevail.
Prayer For The Day: Lord God Almighty, who was, and is and is to come, I praise and thank you! Let me rejoice and be glad and give you the honor and glory. Thank you for inviting me to the wedding supper of the Lamb. In the name of the King of kings and Lord of lords I pray, Amen.
