The Sunnyside Christian Childcare Center is sponsoring the first annual Thanksgiving Turkey Trot this year. You may have heard of a turkey trot, or even participated in one before. It is a 5k race held on Thanksgiving. This event has garnered support from the City of Sunnyside and the Port District, and has received coverage in the Daily Sun News.
The race will start from the church yard and extend north through Sierra Vista & Sun Valley schools, and then east down to through the Christian High School and then finish back at the church.
The race will begin at 8:30. Actually, the word race is a bit misleading. There will be some competitive runners there for sure, but most participants will be jogging some, then walking some, then even maybe trotting. Some people will even be pushing strollers! Even the slowest - not slowest... just most relaxed - participants will be back at the church by 9:30. There will be time for a quick muffin before the Thanksgiving Service starts at 10.
This is an awesome event for our church to host. This race will attract people from all over our valley and community, many who have no church home, and all of whom will be invited to bring Thanksgiving with us to our God! We're hoping to have all sorts of folks worshipping with us that morning, so expect to see many there with their running clothes on!
