We have an awesome opportunity to make a tremendous impact in our community this Christmas by giving presents to children whose parent(s) are incarcerated in prison.
These are kids who live right here in the Sunnyside and Outlook areas - over 50 of them!
When you participate in this ministry, you will be given the information of the boy or girl you are assigned. You will purchase a new gift for them valued at $20, and bring that gift unwrapped here to the church.
The GEMS girl's club will be taught how to wrap gifts and then wrap all the presents up so that the high school youth group can go out with teams of adults to distribute the gifts on Saturday, December 8. The gifts will be presented along with a short presentation of the gospel.
The kids who receive the gifts, along with their caregivers, will all be invited to attend the church's Christmas play here the following weekend.
This is a huge chance to both experience and share the peace of Jesus Christ.
We need about a dozen members to help facilitate this program. We need to figure out a few logistics and then split up the list of 50-60 caregivers who need to be contacted to verify that they want to participate in this ministry. If you want to be part of this planning team, please attend a short meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 7 PM.
